Fraud Prevention and Protection

Fraud and identity theft can happen to anyone—anywhere, anytime. The best protection is prevention. Take steps now to safeguard your information and finances before a problem occurs. Once fraud happens, it can take significant time and effort to resolve.

24/7 Debit Card Fraud Monitoring

Every Eagle Bank debit card comes standard with round-the-clock fraud monitoring. Here’s what to know:

  • Alerts are sent via text (short code 96923), email, or phone (800.237.8990).
  • Since caller ID may appear as “unknown,” we recommend saving these details to your contacts.
  • Respond immediately to any fraud alert. Delays could result in your debit card being temporarily blocked.
  • You’ll be provided with a short code and/or phone number for quick verification.

If you’re planning to travel, please notify us in advance to help prevent unnecessary card blocks.

Tips to Help Protect Yourself

  • Know who you’re dealing with. Always verify that a company, charity, or organization is legitimate—especially if it’s unfamiliar. Use official contact information from their website before sharing details.
  • Guard your personal information. Never share your Social Security number, account number, or other sensitive information unless you initiated the transaction and know the recipient. Be cautious of unsolicited requests for data—even from companies you recognize.
  • Be cautious with unsolicited emails. Scammers often use fake emails to collect personal information. Avoid clicking links or replying to unfamiliar senders. When in doubt, delete the message.
  • Don’t be pressured to act. Legitimate businesses and charities will give you time to decide. If someone demands immediate payment or threatens consequences, it’s likely a scam.
  • Beware of “too good to be true” offers. Promises of easy money, guaranteed loans, or risk-free investments are almost always fraudulent.

Check your credit reports regularly. Review your reports for unfamiliar accounts or inaccurate information and promptly dispute any errors.
